Transition to Year 1

Term 4 is finally here! Can you believe your little one has nearly finished Kindy? I know the teachers can't believe how fast the year has gone.

We are starting to prepare the children for Year 1. Your child's teacher has organised a visiting and learning time with the Year 1 teachers. Kindy students will go to a Year 1 classroom for approximately half an hour in which they will meet the teachers and learn about different routines and procedures.

The aim of transition is to lessen the anxiety some students may have leading up to significant change.

We hope you can support your child with their upcoming transition by always maintaining a positive attitude about change and moving into the next grade. Have discussions with your child about their excitement and/or anxiety. Talk about all the wonderful things they have learnt in Kindergarten and that there is so much more they can learn about in Year 1 too! Share any anxiety issues with your child's teacher.

Most of all, enjoy the final term of Kindergarten and we look forward to (in a sad way) sending a very independent, capable, curious, loveable bunch of kids onto the next stage of their remarkable learning journey!
