Sight Words!
Who is struggling, trying to get their child to learn the sight words? Do I hear a unanimous YES !!!

Well here are a few ideas you can use at home.

1. Hunting. Hide some of the words (5 or 6) around the lounge room or kitchen. You call out a word and your child has to run, find it and bring it back. Check it is the right word.

2. Rainbow Words. In kindergarten, there is a big focus on being able to write the sight words we are learning. That's where Rainbow Words comes to help. You write the words (just choose 5 or 6) on a piece of paper. Your child writes over the words (one by one) using many different colours. They say the word after each colour.

3. Magnetic Letters. You say the word and your child makes it on the fridge using magnetic letters. Look out for packs of magnetic letters that have the correct formation of "a" and "g". You can buy them online if you really want them. Otherwise I know the Reject Shop sell the normal packs.

4. Sight word carpark. Do you own one of those mats that the kids love to drive their cars on? You can park/place some of the words in a few locations around the mat and your child has to drive their car around the mat to collect the words (that you call out) in the correct order.

5. Noughts and crosses. Write a sight word in each of the spaces. Play noughts and crosses but your child has to say the word before they can play in that draw their nought or cross in that space.

HAVE FUN......HAPPY LEARNING...........and stay tuned for more ideas.
